The tallest fir tree (Abies alba) in Slovenia, also known as the Queen of Rog, is the third thickest fir tree in Slovenia with a girth of 496 cm and the tallest fir tree in Slovenia with a height of 51.5 m. Its estimated age is 500 years. Wood mass: 38 cubic meters. In terms of girth, it was surpassed only by the Marolt fir tree from Pohorje, which has a girth of 605 cm, but was severely damaged by the ravages of time and disease, and on September 5, 2010, it collapsed due to a suspected arson. The Črmošnjica fir tree, with a girth of 580 cm, still stands, growing not far from the Queen of Rog near the village of Rog. It is a silent guardian of the Kočevje forests, mighty and dignified, with open branches that carry centuries of wind, snow and stories. Its trunk, furrowed with the deep traces of time, is like an open book of nature, in which the ups and downs of the landscape are written. High above the forest floor, its crown catches the light and softens it into a greenish whisper that spills among the ferns and moss. It is a symbol of perseverance and balance - a queen who rules not with force, but with patience. Around it, the forest calms down, as if acknowledging her presence, and birds take it as a landmark and shelter. The Reichenau fir is a reminder that true greatness grows slowly, deeply rooted in silence and respect for the world around it.
